DEHYDRATED RAW VEGAN KALE CHIPS RECIPE
Required Kitchen Equipment
Step 1: For this first step you'll want to thoroughly rinse your fresh organic kale under cool running tap water. As an optional sterilization method try spraying your kale with a 100% all natural organic produce spray, as this will give you the peace of mind that your kale is completely sterile. If you decide to use the spray then be sure to rinse it off well. Using a kitchen cloth or paper towel, dry your kale completely. Next, tear or shred the kale into bite size chip like pieces, making sure to exclude the fibrous inner kale stalk.
2 Tablespoons of Raw Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 Bunch of Fresh Organic Kale
Step 2: Take out a large mixing bowl and then add your fresh kale chips into it. Next, evenly sprinkle in your raw extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, and minced garlic cloves. Using completely clean hands, gently mix the ingredients together until your kale chips are evenly coated with the fresh and delicious ingredients. Be sure not to smash the kale chips while you're mixing them with the oil and seasonings, as the chips will lose their rigidity and crispness.
Step 3: Take out your food dehydrator sheets or trays and then evenly line out the oiled and seasoned kale chips on to them. The size of your dehydrator will obviously determine how many trays or sheets you'll need. When laying out the kale chips keep in mind that you don't want to stack them on top of each other, as they'll dehydrate unevenly and stick together.
Step 4: Slide your trays or sheets into your food dehydrator and then set the temperature to 115 degrees F, or 46 degrees C. Allow the kales chips to process for 4 to 6 hours, or until they're nice and crispy. I highly recommend that you check on them periodically just to make sure that they don't overcook. Once your raw vegan kale chips are done you can immediately serve and eat them.
Storage: Your dehydrated raw vegan kale chips will keep for 2 weeks if properly stored. When storing them use an airtight sealable container and then place it out of contact with any direct sunlight. A cool dark pantry tends to work the best. If exposed to sunlight the chips will spoil much quicker. Generally dehydrated kale chips will keep for up to a full week longer than oven baked kale chips.
Health Benefits: Although baked kale chips are nutrient dense and extremely healthy, dehydrated raw vegan kale chips are the healthiest variety. The baking process does neutralize and deactivate a percentage of the nutritional properties within fresh kale, while dehydrating kale will minimize this nutritional loss much more. Dehydrated raw vegan kale chips are absolutely loaded with vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin B6, thiamin, iron, calcium, and many other nutrients. Additionally, the minced garlic within this recipe is a natural immunity booster and antioxidant.
