DEHYDRATED GARLIC KALE CHIPS RECIPE
Required Kitchen Equipment
Step 1: Thoroughly wash and rinse your fresh bunch of kale under running water. Using an all natural fruit and vegetable spray is highly recommended, just be sure to rinse it off. Once the kale is clean you can then dry it off with a small kitchen cloth or paper towel. Once the kale is clean and dry, proceed to cut away the thick and inedible inner stalk that runs through the middle of each individual leaf. Lastly, you will want to manually tear the leafy section of the kale into medium to large chip shaped pieces.
2 Tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/2 Teaspoon of Garlic Powder
1/2 Teaspoon of Black Pepper
Step 2: For this step please place your kale chip pieces into a large bowl. Next, take out a second smaller bowl and add into this the extra virgin olive oil, salt, garlic powder, minced garlic cloves, and black pepper. Using a small spoon mix the ingredients in the second bowl together until you have a smooth and even consistency. You'll now want to slowly drizzle the oil and seasoning mixture over the top of your kale. At this point you will need to manually toss the kale chips using clean hands. Continue to mix them until each chip has a nice even coating of oil. Be sure to gently mix the kale as you don't want it to become soggy.
Step 3: Please place your oiled and seasoned kale chips on to your food dehydrator trays. When laying out the chips do make sure that there is minimal overlap. I should also point out that you should not stack the chips on top of each other while they're cooking, otherwise they will stick together.
Step 4: Slide your kale lined dehydrator trays into the appliance. Set the temperature to 115 degrees F, or 46 degrees C. Allow your kale chips to dehydrate for 4 to 6 hours or until they're really crispy. Towards the fourth hour be sure to watch the kale closely just to make sure that it doesn't get over dried. Once the kale chips are done you can serve them immediately. Don't forget to try a few while they're still a little warm.
Storage: These super tasty dehydrated garlic kale chips will stay fresh for approximately 2 weeks. Store your chips in an airtight container, then set it in a cool dark place such as in your pantry. Be sure to store them away from any direct sunlight, as this will cause them to spoil much sooner.
