BAKED OVEN KALE CHIPS RECIPE
Step 1: For this first step of the creation process please set your oven to a preheat temperature of 350 degrees F, or 175 degrees C.
2 Tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/4 Teaspoon of Smoked Paprika
1/2 Teaspoon of Garlic Salt
1/4 Teaspoon of Ground Thyme
1 Tablespoon of Fresh Lemon Juice
Step 2: Gently wash and rinse your bunch of kale under cool running water. It's a great idea to sterilize the kale using an all natural fruit and vegetable spray. If you decide to use the spray then do be sure to completely rinse it off. Totally dry the kale once it's clean. Next, you will want to cut away the tough inner stalk that runs through the middle of the kale. Finally you will need to cut or shred your kale into medium size chip like pieces.
Step 3: Please take out a large mixing bowl and then add your kale pieces into it. Next, take out a smaller mixing bowl and then add into it the extra virgin olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic salt, ground thyme, and fresh lemon juice. Using a metal whisk rapidly stir the ingredients together until you have a totally consistent mixture. Evenly drizzle this mixture over your kale chips in the larger bowl. Using sterile hands, manually mix the ingredients together until each individual kale chip is evenly coated with the oil and seasonings. Try not to crush the kale during this process, as you want it to remain firm and crisp.
Step 4: For this step you will want to place your oiled and seasoned kale on to a cookie or baking sheet lined with parchment paper. You don't want to stack the kale chips on top of each other, as this will cause them to cook unevenly and stick together. For the best results individually line them out with minimal overlap.
Step 5: For the fifth step you'll want to slide your kale lined baking sheet into the oven. Bake the chips at the preheat temperature for roughly 10 to 15 minutes. Once the edges of the kale chips become crisp and golden, go ahead and remove them from the oven. Watch your kale chips closely while they're baking, as they're extremely easy to burn or overcook.
Step 6: Before serving your fresh baked kale chips, it's recommended that you allow them to cool for approximately 5 to 10 minutes. Kale chips are super delicious eaten while they're still warm from the oven.
Storage: These tasty kale chips will stay fresh for a full week if properly kept. Place them in a sealed container and then store them at room temperature in a dark place, such as in your pantry or cupboard.
Health Benefits: As we've mentioned elsewhere throughout our website, baked oven kale chips are full of essential vitamins and minerals such as iron, vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium, potassium, and vitamin K. If eaten regularly baked kale is proven to lower the risks of heart disease and many different types of cancer. Additionally, the extra virgin olive oil has tons of monounsaturated fatty acids that also help protect against heart disease. When it comes to snack foods, it just doesn't get any healthier than kale chips.
