BAKED NUTRITIONAL YEAST KALE CHIPS RECIPE
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 200 degrees F, or 95 degrees C.
2 Tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/2 Cup of Nutritional Yeast
Step 2: Rinse your fresh kale under cold running water, then dry it with a paper towel. Before rinsing the kale you might want to consider spraying it with an all natural citrus based produce spray, as this will safely remove any dirt, residue, pesticides, or harmful bacteria. Once the kale is dry tear it into desired chip size pieces. Make sure that you set aside any of the fibrous inner kale stalk, as you only want to use the tender leafy portion of the plant.
Step 3: Place your torn kale into a large mixing bowl and then evenly drizzle the extra virgin olive oil over it. Once the oil has been applied you will then want to evenly sprinkle in the salt and nutritional yeast. Gently massage the kale with clean hands until the leaves are evenly coated with the ingredients. Make sure not to overly mix the ingredients as this will cause your kale to become wilted and soggy.
Step 4: Evenly spread your oiled and seasoned kale chips across a large parchment paper lined baking sheet. Make sure that there is a little spacing in between each piece, otherwise the chips will stick together while baking. You definitely do not want to stack any of the kale pieces on top of each other, as this will create a clumped mass of chips.
Step 5: Bake the kale chips at the preheated temperature for 20 to 25 minutes. Moving along, carefully flip the chips over and allow them to cook for an additional 20 to 25 minutes, or until they become rigid and crispy. The total baking time should last 40 to 50 minutes depending on how hot your oven cooks. Make sure that you watch the kale chips closely while they're baking, as they will burn or overcook very fast.
Step 6: Allow the kale chips to cool for 10 minutes before serving, as they'll be really hot. These chips are especially tasty when they're still warm from the oven.
Storage: Store your excess chips in a sealed airtight container at room temperature. The chips will keep for up to a week if properly stored. Make sure that you store them out of contact with any direct sunlight.
Health Benefits: Kale chips are a great source of vitamin K, vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin B6, all of which are essential nutrients required for optimal health. The extra virgin olive oil within the recipe is also extremely healthy, containing monounsaturated fat that has been proven to greatly reduce your chances of developing heart disease.
