Step 1: Set your oven temperature to a preheat setting of 350 degrees F, or 175 degrees C.
1 Bunch of Fresh Kale
2 Tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/2 Teaspoon of Salt
Ready In
25 Minutes
1/2 Teaspoon of Crushed Red Chili Flakes
1 Teaspoon of Finely Chopped Almonds
1/2 Teaspoon of Garlic Powder
1/3 Teaspoon of Onion Powder
Step 2: Wash and rinse your fresh kale. As a strictly optional cleaning method, consider spraying your fresh kale with a 100% organic plant derived fruit and vegetable spray, especially if the kale isn't organic. If you do opt to use the spray then be sure to rinse it off. Next, dry your kale completely using a paper towel. Lastly, you will want to shred your kale into chip size pieces. Be sure to tear away any of the thick inner kale stalk, as you only want to use the soft leafy portion.
Step 3: Place your shredded kale pieces into a large mixing bowl. Next, take out a smaller mixing bowl and then thoroughly whisk together the extra virgin olive oil, salt, crushed red chili flakes, finely chopped almonds, garlic powder, and onion powder. Once these ingredients are completely whisked together, slowly drizzle the mixture over your shredded kale chips. Using clean hands manually mix all of the ingredients together until the kale is evenly coated with the oil and seasonings. Don't smash or crush the kale during the mixing phase, as this will cause it to wilt.
Step 4: Take out a large baking sheet and line it with parchment paper. Place your oiled and seasoned kale chips on to it, however, do not place them on top of each other as this will cause them to stick together while baking. The chips can slightly overlap.
Step 5: Place the baking sheet into the oven and bake your oiled and seasoned kale chips for 10 to 15 minutes at the preheat temperature. Remove the chips from the oven once the outer edges become crispy and brown. While the chips are baking be sure to watch them closely, as they can overcook very quickly.
Step 6: Once baked, allow your kale chips to cool down for 5 to 10 minutes before eating them. They're absolutely delicious when served warm from the oven.
Storage: Any leftover baked best kale chips should be stored in an airtight container and kept away from any direct sunlight. If stored properly they will stay fresh for a full week.
Health Benefits: These delicious kale chips are very healthy for you, containing tons of vitamin K, vitamin A, vitamin C, iron, calcium, and copper. Additionally, the garlic powder is a natural immune system booster, while the finely chopped almonds can help lower bad cholesterol and reduce your risks of a heart attack.
