BAKED BASIC KALE CHIPS RECIPE
Step 1: Please preheat your oven to a temperature of 350 degrees F, or 175 degrees C.
1 Tablespoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 Teaspoon of Organic Seasoned Salt
Step 2: Take out a non insulated cookie sheet and completely line it with parchment paper.
Step 3: Thoroughly wash and rinse your fresh bunch of kale under cool running water. I personally use an organic fruit and vegetable wash on my kale before rinsing it, as this ensures that it will be free of any harmful bacteria or pesticides.
Step 4: Using a sharp kitchen knife carefully remove the thick inner kale stalk and then set it aside. Next, you will want to chop the leafy portion of the kale into chip size pieces.
Step 5: Place your cut kale chips into a salad spinner to remove any moisture from the plant.
Step 6: Spread your kale chips across the parchment paper lined cookie sheet without stacking the pieces on top of each other. A small amount of overlap is acceptable. Slowly and evenly drizzle the extra virgin olive oil over the top of the kale chips. Next, slowly sprinkle on the organic seasoned salt. Don't be afraid to use your clean and sterile hands to spread the oil and seasoned salt over the kale pieces. Each chip should be evenly coated with oil and seasonings.
Step 7: Slide your oiled and seasoned kale chips into the oven to bake for approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Once the edges of the kale chips become brown and crisp that means that they are finished baking. Kale chips can burn rather quickly so be sure to keep a close eye on them throughout the baking process. Once the kale chips are finished they can be served after they've cooled off for roughly 5 minutes.
Storage: Be sure to properly store any of your leftover baked basic kale chips. Place them in a sealable container with an airtight lid and then keep them in a cool dark place, such as in your cupboard or pantry. I prefer to use a glass storage vessel as they seem to stay fresher and retain more flavor that way. A plastic container will work as well. If you store your kale chips as instructed above they will stay fresh for 1 full week.
Health Benefits: These delicious baked basic kale chips can offer you a ton of health benefits if eaten regularly. Diets rich in baked green vegetables have been proven to prevent cancer, lower cholesterol, prevent bone loss, prevent tissue inflammation, and also reduce the risks of macular degeneration. Kale is loaded with essential vitamins and minerals such as vitamin A, vitamin K, vitamin C, vitamin B6, iron, potassium, and more. Regarding the specific ingredients within this recipe, do make sure that you're using a seasoned salt that is organic and MSG free. There are many different healthy and organic seasoned salt brands out there that don't contain preservatives, chemicals, and other harmful flavor additives.
